Half Square Triangle Quilted PIllow

Boy, that title is a mouth full, is it not? A half square triangle is a quilt block, and four of them together make this awesome pillow cover.

University of Kentucky Half Square Triangle Quilted Pillow

Yes, that's University of Kentucky fabric, along with some white on white print stars. After the holidays are over with and the madness has ceased, I'll post a semi-tutorial on how to do this. For now enjoy pics of the back and the inside and the button I made.

The inside of the pillow cover. It's covered to protect the batting and the stitches.
And it has a tag.

The envelope back with a button.

A button made with leftover UK fabric and a button from a button cover kit.

The front, flat with no pillow in it.

So, there you have it. Pics of a quilted pillow cover. I found this on Pinterest and the tutorial I used is here.

If you don't currently follow me on Pinterest or Twitter or Etsy or Facebook, you can find the links to do so in the right hand bar under 'Linkage'.

As always, spread some love and give the gift of handmade.

Busy Crafting and Such

I don't update here quite as often as I should simply because I spend most of my time crafting -- i.e., quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, painting. With that being said, please follow along at the Knit Knack Patty Shack Facebook page and the Twitter feed. Also, feel free to follow my Fabricy Goodness Pinterest board for ideas and inspiration. Don't forget to visit the Etsy shop while you're at it!

A New Crochet Bag Pattern In Progress

I am currently crocheting a crochet bag inspired by FutureGirl's The Hex Tote. I am using the first three rounds of her motif and then the fourth round (which is also the joining round) becomes a square instead of a hexagon.

Details will be coming along as I'm now on the third round of the motifs. I like to work in an orderly fashion by making all the centers first and then doing all the second rounds and then the third rounds. I'm sure you get the idea.

Here are some important links for this pattern/project:
The Ravelry link for FutureGirl's Hex Tote here.
The Ravelry link for my first and second Hex Tote following the exact instructions here and here.
The Ravelry link for my current project based on the Hex Tote here.
The link for the original Hex Tote by FutureGirl is mentioned above.

My materials are as follows:
US G6 (4.25mm) hook
Red Heart Super Saver in Carrot, Light Grey, and Windsor Blue.
Fabric for the lining to match the colors chosen (haven't got this yet).
Blunt tipped needle for weaving in the ends

What I'm Doing

So, I thought I'd give you an update as to what I was doing currently.

On my hook is an HDC Granny Square (link here).

On my needles is a Honeycomb Toque (link here). This is my third one, so I guess you could say I really like the pattern.

On my cutting mat is 8 fat quarters, a blue flannel backing, and about 1.5 yards of white muslin. These will most likely become a baby doll blanket for a friend of mine's daughter.

On my quilting table is a Cupcake Patchwork Chevron quilt (check my Facebook Page for photos).

Just Saying Hello

I'm sitting at my desk, pencil and paper next to my laptop because I have recently been asked to create something I have not done yet. I have the image in my head and know how it should look finished, but the final dimensions are as yet undecided. I have a smaller version that I make already, and this new request is to be based off of that design.

So, I have been scouring Pinterest and Etsy for ideas on how to accomplish this task. I shall succeed, no doubt. It is always the design process that takes me the longest. And usually there are a few flub ups that occur, major errors, and several revisions, but then it reaches maximum perfection!

Anyhooligans, I though I'd let you know what was going on. Now, though, it's time to go back to the drawing board.

Two Things Today

Two things today:

Thing #1: I finished the Cherry Corners Quilt (otherwise named the Perfectly Imperfect Quilt by a friend of mine) late last night! WOOT! Popping in a few thread ends, and then a good wash, then pictures and a listing in my Etsy shop!

Thing #2: I finally took my Etsy shop LIVE!! Knit Knack Patty Shack is ALIVE and RUNNING! Not currently a whole lot listed, but that will change as I build up stock. As always you can request a custom item!

Finishing the Cherry Corners Quilt

Yup! I'm in the home stretch!  It has been quilted and the binding is machine sewn to the front. Now, I'm hand sewing the binding to the back!  Woot!

Things, They Have Changed

A couple of days ago, I mentioned that things were changing. Specifically, the name, but mostly me.

I have (finally) come to the conclusion that I need to open an Etsy shop. I have never built up stock before, but here lately I have been. It only seems appropriate that the only way to get through my stash of yarn and fabric and jewelry stuff is to make stuff with it and then sell it. That's what most of my summer will be spent doing.

Currently, there is a quilt in my machine being straight line quilted.

The Cherry Corners Quilt Top

There it is in all its glory as a flimsy (word for quilt top that isn't sewn to anything)! It took me forever to find a backing I liked. But, I did, and am currently quilting it. There will be pics when I am finished!

Things, They Are A Changing

In the process of opening an Etsy store, finishing quilts, and wrangling kids in their summer break. Yup! Things are a changing!
